Malawi to host WBU title fights
World Boxing Union (WBU) of Germany and World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) of China have sanctioned 10 title fights involving boxers from six countries who will fight at Bingu International Conference Centre (Bicc) on September 28.
Dubbed ‘Ultimate Boxing Championship’, boxing fans should brace up for a major boxing feast never witnessed before in the history of the country.
Delta Force Boxing Academy of Zimbabwe and No Pain No Gain Promoters have partnered to host the fights.
The main bout will be between Wilson Masamba and Cid Edson Rebeiro from Brazil in WBU featherweight 12-round title bout.
The main supporting bout will be between Charles Misanjo and Moabi Mothiba from Botswana in a 10-round WPBF Africa super welterweight bout.
In other bouts involving Malawian pugilists, Limbani Masamba will face Mike Shonena from Namibia in an eight-round WPBF welterweight category bout. Alick Gogoda will take on Trevor Mpofu from Zimbabwe.
WBU president Toresten Knille said other details will be announced in due course.
